Why first-attempt, and not the headline number
The pass rate you usually see mixes first-timers in with people on their third or fourth go, so it describes a centre's retest mix as much as the centre itself. First-attempt rate is the number a pupil and an instructor actually want, and it's what DVSA table DRT122C is for. A high rate is also not the same as an easy test — rural centres with few candidates swing wildly on small numbers, which is why the attempt count is shown alongside.
